Creative Learning Through Movement (CLTM)In CLTM classes we solve movement puzzles, generate and develop ideas through doing and invent movement solutions. We play dynamic games that increase spatial awareness and develop interpersonal skills through nonverbal collaborations. We explore the anatomy of emotions and how we shape our feelings. We translate classroom curriculum into experiential education, making it tangible and personal. CLTM adds greater potency and relevance to learning by grounding problem solving, emotional exploration and creative thinking in physical experience and expression. This fosters the relationship between oneʼs thinking, actions, feelings and sensations, integrating cognitive, sensorial, emotional and motor development. Long before verbal and cognitive development take center stage, we learn through our actions -- through how we react to and interact with our environment and ourselves. By introducing and guiding developmentally appropriate movement explorations, CLTM not only taps into these early learning patterns, but also inherited ancient evolutionary patterns. This makes CLTM a powerful and potent tool for learning. Introducing movement puzzles with clear directives and boundaries while simultaneously encouraging the children to explore and create their own movement solutions with an attitude of fun and ease, CLTM directs the children's attention away from “pushing the limits” and towards the creative capacity these limits contain. Instead of the boundaries being something to break, they become a container for learning-- for exploring, researching, developing and creating. This approach encourages children to recognize, develop and grow into their inherent capacity and to fill their potential -- to learn, think and live creatively and to share this with others.
